The Custom Color Building
For over 40-years this building was home to Custom Color Corporation, a photographic lab and visual communications company founded by entrepreneur and print pioneer, Nate Accardo.
From its humble beginnings in 1969, Custom Color grew from a single person to over 160 full-time team members. In the late 1970’s, Nate Accardo hired former Kodak executive, Guy Clark and shortly thereafter made him a partner. Together they would build a company that was widely-recognized around the world as the ‘gold-standard’ for photographic printing and film photography.
The Custom Color building is located in the heart of the thriving arts and cultural center of downtown Kansas City known as the Crossroads Arts District. This district is home to countless galleries, art shops, restaurants, and boutique retail. Custom Color is also one block from the $450MM Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and walking distance to the Sprint Arena, Convention Center, Entertainment District and countless art galleries and restaurants.
